Jackson and Vitters join Cubs’ rebuilding party; Dodgers win
LOS ANGELES (MCT) — In a 41-day stretch that began with Anthony Rizzo’s call-up June 26, the Cubs have evolved from a big-market, high-payroll team to a prospect-filled clubhouse, where mega-millionaire Alfonso Soriano sticks out like a sore thumb.
The Theo Epstein blueprint has been followed to a T, and Sunday’s call-up of Brett Jackson and Josh Vitters from Triple-A Iowa, along with the trade of Jeff Baker to the Tigers for two players to be named, were the last big pieces in the first year of the rebuilding puzzle.
