GALESBURG, Ill. — Mrs. Jane M. Smith, 79, of Galesburg, Ill., ad formerly of Dwight, Ill., died at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug., 4, 2012, at Galesburg Cottage Hospital. 
 
She was born March 5, 1933, in Chicago, the daughter of LeRoy and Catherine Matzke. She married Robert W. Smith on March 6, 1954, and moved to Dwight. 
 
She attended grade school in Chicago and moved to Fond du Lac, Wis., where she graduated from high school in 1950. She attended Milwaukee County School of Nursing and graduated as a registered nurse in 1953. She was employed by the Veterans Hospital in Dwight and later at the William Fox Developmental Center until retirement in 1987.
