AFSCME, Dwight keep up fight for prison
DWIGHT (MCT) — The fight to save Dwight prison and other state correctional facilities from closure goes on in the courts, and public help still is needed in the political arena, union and community officials said Monday in Dwight.
“Tell them (lawmakers and Gov. Pat Quinn) you are a citizen of Illinois, you are a taxpayer of Illinois, and you want them to remain open,” said Dan Dunlap, president of American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 1133.
