Rosella Kanne
MORTON, Ill. — Rosella R. Kanne, 97, of Morton, Ill., formerly of Verona, Ill., died at 5:36 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, at her home.
Born March 19, 1915, in Verona, Ill., Rosella was the daughter of William H. and Ellen Theresa (Casey) Broderick. She married J. Melvin Kanne on Jan. 6, 1940, in Kinsman, Ill. He preceded her in death on Oct. 16, 1979.
She graduated from St. Angela’s Academy in Morris as a salutatorian.
Rosella had worked as a licensed practical nurse at the Veterans Administration Hospital and the William Fox Developmental Center in Dwight, Ill.
She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish in Morton and its Altar & Rosary Society. She was a former member of St. Patrick Parish in Dwight, where she was a member and past president of its Altar & Rosary Society for many years.
Rosella loved baking and baked the best pies in the world.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia (Ray) Dennison of Morton; one son, Jack (Dianne) Kanne of Morton; her son-in-law, Tom Dolan of Morris; 10 grandchildren, Simone (Jim) Asmussen of Lake Forest, Ill., Brian (Michelle) Dennison of Morton, Lisa (John) Gillespie of Green Oaks, Ill., John (Cara) Dennison of Morton, Nicole (Dan) Patin of Jacksonville, Fla., Ashley (Jeff) Kelly of Oswego, Ill., Terra (Lawrence) Hutchinson of Morton, Sarah Metzger of Morton, Troy Dolan of Morris, Ill., and Todd Dolan of Morris; and 19-great-grandchildren.
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Cheryl Dolan on April 13, 2012; five brothers, William, Joseph, James, Thomas and Edmond; two sisters, Mayme Corrigan and Cecilia Lyons; and one infant sister, Loretta Broderick.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton. Fr. Mark DeSutter will officiate.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Dwight.
Memorials may be made to the Blessed Sacrament Parish Building Fund in Morton or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in honor of Isabella Hutchinson.
