Farmers Markets offer excellent quality
As a Cary resident, I was so excited about the opening of the Farmers Market in the Cary train station parking lot last summer. For the second year now, the Cary Farmers Market appears to be a great success.
More and more communities in the Chicago area seem to be opening up outdoor markets with locally grown produce and food products and the community response has been welcoming.
Here are some of the fun things you can find at the Cary Farmer’s Market:
- Fresh ground peanut/nut butters
- Flavored honeys
- Homemade jams and jellies
- Fresh flowers
- Locally grown fruits and vegetables
- Fresh baked breads and desserts
- Cheese (samples are available)
- Fresh meats from local farms
While the products may sometimes be pricier than the average grocery store, the variety and quality are excellent, and you know that your money is going to support others in the community.
If you haven’t checked out your local farmer’s market yet this summer, I encourage you to do so. Make a point to stop and look, sample and enjoy, and support your community.
