Tasty smoothie tip

Text Size: AaAaAaAaAa

I’ve been on a smoothie kick lately – I can’t think of a more refreshing and healthy snack for a hot summer day.

I tried an ingredient combination the other day that scored big with my kids and my husband. Whenever I get a “YEAH” from all three, I like to share my success!

Try this for a delicious pickup on a hot day:

- 1 cup low fat vanilla yogurt
- 1 cup frozen, unsweetened blueberries
- ¼ cup frozen, unsweetened mango

Add all of them to a blender and press puree or liquefy. Usually, I heat the frozen fruit in the microwave or let it sit on the counter for 30 minutes before adding it. Or add a small amount of water or juice, just so it’s easier for the blender to mix.

This should make about 2 to 8 oz. smoothies.

The mango adds a delicious tang to this berry smoothie. And fruit and yogurt smoothies are an excellent source of potassium, calcium, vitamins and antioxidants. Enjoy one today!
