Coupon sale funds local scholarships
Annual fundraiser helps support effort to reward students
The Morris local chapter of the Illinois Federation of Business Women’s Clubs is selling coupons for Macy’s department store good for Saturday, Aug. 25 to raise money for scholarships.
Macy’s “Shop For A Cause” has chosen the Morris Local as one of its beneficiaries.
Coupons can be purchased by any local member for $5 and are good for 25-percent off regular, sale and clearance items at Macy’s or Macys.com.
The coupon is also good for 10-percent off large items, such as furniture or electronics.
“This has become an annual fundraiser for us and really helps us reach our $1,000 goal in order to give out two $500 scholarships every year,” President Christina Chapman said.
The scholarships are awarded in April and are given to a local graduating high school student, returning student or club member for career advancement.
The coupons will be sold through Aug. 25 and all proceeds go toward the club’s scholarships.
The Illinois Federation was chartered in December of 1919 with a mission of “Women Helping Women.”
The federation continues to be a very powerful organization to this day. It exists to help women in their careers and their personal growth.
The Morris Local meets bi-monthly at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of the month at Chapin’s Restaurant, 701 N. Liberty St. in Morris.
