Cashing in

5K event benefits La Salle County health center

OTTAWA, Ill. — The Health Center of Eastern La Salle County serves people who do not have access to health insurance, do not qualify for state or federal programs and who do not have the financial resources to secure the health care they need

This worthy organization, which is run primarily by volunteers, benefitted to the tune of $2,000 on July 21 when the Ottawa Network of Young eXecutives (ONYX) hosted their fourth annual Dash for Ca$h 5K run/walk fundraiser.

In announcing the news, Matthew Skelly, race director, thanked the community for backing the event. Sponsors and supporters included:

This was the first year ONYX boasted a USATF certified course, ensuring a fair and safe competitive opportunity for serious runners. The event attracted 140 participants with additional spectators and volunteers in attendance.

ONYX, an organization developed in partnership with the Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce, enables and encourages young professionals ages 22-40 to become the future “gems” of the community.
