Coal City pursues lease agreement for site of proposed dog park

COAL CITY — New movement to bring a dog park to Coal City was tabled by village leaders at their meeting Monday night as they worked to hash out a lease agreement and solidify a location.

In a presentation to the board, the village's Park Board included two sites that have been evaluated for use – a location with access to North Park's parking lot and another south of the girls' softball field at Lions Park. The Park Board also provided information about the financial requirements of the project.

"There's been a lot of interest in the dog park and a lot of people have asked for it," Georgette Vota, trustee and the board's representative to the Park Board, said. "That's why the Park Board has had several fundraisers to help accomplish this."

What is your stance on a proposed 1 percent sales tax to fund local school building projects?

I'm in favor of anything that will help improve school finances
I will support it if it helps to lower my property taxes
I oppose it because I don't believe it will impact property taxes and I will just pay twice
I'm against any additional taxes
I have not heard enough yet to form an opinion
