Cubs fire player personnel director Fleita
(MCT) — The Cubs fired Vice-President of Player Personnel Oneri Fleita on Wednesday.
Fleita, a former protege of former GM Jim Hendry, was promoted to a VP position in 2007 and received a four-year extension from Chairman Tom Ricketts last September before the new regime was installed.
Baseball president Theo Epstein is now making changes in the front office, as evidenced by the promotion of Tim Wilken to special assistant to the president, along with the hiring of Padres scouting director Jaron Madison.
