Man dies following fiery crash on Illinois 47

Minivan reportedly crossed center line, hit semi's gas tank

DuPage County officials confirmed the death Wednesday of an area man who was transported to a Downers Grove hospital following a two-vehicle crash on Illinois 47, near the Grundy County Fairgrounds.

A representative from the DuPage County Coroner's Office confirmed Robert McCullough, 84, the driver of a minivan that struck a semi-truck Wednesday afternoon, was pronounced dead at 2:25 p.m. Wednesday at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital.

His wife, whose name has not yet been released by local law enforcement authorities, remains under hospital care. Her condition was not immediately available, but she was transported to Morris Hospital by ambulance. The driver of the semi-trailer was also transported to Morris Hospital.
