Republicans rip Democrats, but no pension breakthrough expected
(MCT) — Republican leaders on Thursday used their annual day at the Illinois State Fair to try to lay the blame for the state's financial woes at the feet of powerful House Speaker Michael Madigan and his fellow Democrats.
GOP officials said now is the time to act like adults and pass sorely needed government worker pension reforms, but they offered little to indicate they will vote for any plan Democrats are pushing.
