Results are in: Redskins do well at linemen challenge
Nearly one month after sending three teams to the Raider Linemen Challenge up in Bolingbrook, the final results were made available to the public. Morris found out that it was the second-best team of 37 at the annual event.
Lemont won it by finishing in first place in the bench press, relay, sled drive and tug of war, but the Redskins' first team was right there. The top Morris team was first in both the medicine ball throw (128-0) and the obstacle course (2:01.5), second in the bench (112), relay (19.73) and sled drive (5.84) and third in the tug of war. For the record, they were sixth in the 40 dash (22.5).
"We ended up second with the first group and I think 10th with the second group and the third group finished 20-something. The kids were excited," Morris coach Alan Thorson said. "They are a competitive group and, even though it's not a game; it's more like a 7-on-7, kind of, it's something they want to do well at. I know their bench numbers are really good and that's one of the things that they were hoping to do well going in. So they were happy. It's good to see the kids compete and do well."
