Ottawa woman dies in crash on U.S. 6

Morris man airlifted to another hospital for treatment of injuries

A 26-year-old Ottawa woman was killed in an early morning crash Sunday on U.S. 6, west of Morris.

According to Grundy County Coroner John Callahan, the crash took place on a stretch of U.S. 6, north of Long Point Road, when a vehicle operated by a Morris man, whose identity has not been released by local authorities, attempted to pass another vehicle and lost control. The vehicle went off the roadway, striking two trees.

After the vehicle struck the second tree, it bounced back onto the roadway and was struck broadside by a semi-trailer. At about 2:25 a.m., the vehicle's passenger, Brittany L. Judy, was pronounced dead at the scene by Callahan.
