CHICAGO (MCT) — He was the last to speak, and like many of the other ex-convicts on probation, he talked about his struggles to find a job. He had also missed a drug test but passed around his cellphone to show he had at least called to check on the appointment.
But U.S. District Judge Ruben Castillo wasn’t impressed. He leaned forward in his chair, intently gazing at the 35-year-old man.
