Creating a field of foilage, deer

There is something satisfying about working with your hands. The acts of thinking, planning, creating and building are very human qualities. If a job is done right, and meets our expectations, it is quite fulfilling to stand back and admire the finished product.

This applies not only to the building trades and artists, but it also applies to outdoor enthusiasts. Several years ago I felt this pride as I built a food plot from scratch.

For those that are in tune with whitetail hunting, they have heard the phrase food plot quite a lot. It’s almost a buzzword and an entire industry has been created around this concept.

Folks that might not be as familiar with the idea of food plots could get the wrong idea. Most advertisements and television shows portray a food plot as a sure-fire way to bag a monster buck. Most of the time, there is an accomplished hunter posing with their latest trophy while sitting in a field of green clover.
