David Osmond

LOUISA, Va. — Mr. David Osmond, 79, of Louisa, Va., passed away Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, at Hospice House in Charlottesville, Va.

David was born to Louis and Mabel Classon Osmond in Lisbon, Ill. As a child, he resided in Seneca until he was drafted into the Army in 1953. He attended Devry Tech in Chicago.

He worked as an electrical maintenance supervisor for Union Carbide and Celanese Americas in Ottawa, Ill., and Klockner in Gordonsville, Va.

David’s strength of character and sense of humor endeared him to all and he will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 59 years, Ann; five children, Linda Orton, Stan Osmond and wife Teri, Brian Osmond and wife Linda, Amy Southam and husband Joseph, and Kimberly Hopkins and husband Michael; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; seven brothers and sisters, Mervin Osmond, Ruth Bols, John Osmond, June Andreatta, JoAnne Newton, Paul Osmond  and Susan Van Cleave; along with many nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Arnold and Merrill.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, at the Lisbon Bethlehem Church in Lisbon, Ill. Visitation will be held at at 10:30 a.m.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses who have cared for David these past few years and more recently, the Hospice of the Piedmont and Hospice House.
