Manteno breaks out in second half to beat Coal City

COAL CITY — For 40 minutes of action on Tuesday night, the soccer match between Coal City and Manteno was a one-goal contest.

However, Adam Schaeffer completed a hat trick for the Panthers in the 56th minute as Manteno came away with a 5-0 win over the hosting Coalers. Jimmy Sotiropoulos and Matt Gregory also scored in the win.

"We picked up the intensity a lot in the second half," Sotiropoulos said. "I think we took it easy in the first half, but we got a wake-up call in the second half. We started completing passes and started playing Manteno soccer in the second half."
