Area Roundup: Morris tennis team beats L-P

The Morris girls tennis team won 3-2 over LaSalle-Peru on Wednesday.

Savannah Carter lost 6-2, 3-6, 0-6, No. 2 singles Emma Dingbaum won 7-6 (7-5), 2-6, 6-4; No. 1 doubles Monica Davy/Leah Lines won 6-2, 6-3; No. 2 doubles Carly Williamson/Mary Bush lost 2-6, 3-6 and No. 3 doubles Sarah Roth/Maddy Sherlock won 6-4, 6-3.

"This was a nice team win for us. We haven't beat L-P in about five years," Morris coach Luke Windy said. "Emma played a great match tonight. For her first varsity match and to win the last match of the night was tremendous. That is a lot of pressure for a freshman and she passed with flying colors. Sarah and Maddy also played well. This is their first time playing together and they got a big win for us also. Hopefully we can continue this momentum into our matches next week."
