Cubs guarantee Castro $60 million for next seven seasons
CHICAGO (MCT) — The new Cubs regime has created a revolving door of hit-and-miss talent this season, but Tuesday it made the first long-term commitment to the future.
And the first seven-year, $60 million contract went to a Jim Hendry holdover, Starlin Castro, because “we’re building a young core and Starlin’s right in the middle of that,” according to general manager Jed Hoyer.
