Giving one away to Angels
MINOOKA — Despite holding Morgan Reardon to just six kills; nine service errors and numerous mental errors that you won’t find in the box score proved costly in Minooka’s 25-12, 25-20 loss to Joliet Catholic Academy in a match that Minooka head coach Chris Hoelscher felt her team gave away.
“For sure, for sure.” Hoelscher said about giving the match away. “I mean obviously they are a very good team. They have a long tradition with great players, but we controlled it. We put ourselves in position to win. There were a few things here and there that we can fix, but I was very proud of the kids. They were battling, and doing some good stuff.”
The Angels raced out to an early 10-3 advantage in the opening game, before the Indians bounced back to just a 12-10 deficit behind kills from middle Tessa Griparis, and outside hitters Raven Burns and Lacey Hill. The momentum was short lived.
