Indians claim Maine off waivers from Cubs

(MCT) — Scott Maine's three-year career in the Chicago Cubs organization ended Wednesday when he was claimed off waivers by Cleveland.

The Cubs also named minor league field coordinator Brandon Hyde as the new director of player development, replacing Oneri Fleita.

Maine, a 27-year-old left-hander, had been designated for assignment on Monday to make room on the 40-man roster for catcher Anthony Recker, acquired from Oakland for Blake Lalli.
