Man killed in collision on U.S. 6

Coal City woman arrested for reckless homicide

CHANNAHON —  Anthony Calhoun, 46, whose last known address was in Palatine, was killed Friday, Aug. 31, in a head-on collision on U.S. 6, east of Interstate 55, in Channahon.

Shortly after 3 p.m. Friday, Calhoun was eastbound on U.S. 6 when his sedan was struck by a westbound pick-up truck driven by Tiffany Unland, 30, of Coal City. Calhoun's vehicle was flipped onto the driver's side when Channahon police and ambulance arrived on scene, Channahon Police Chief Jeff Wold said.

Witnesses reported Unland had veered off the south shoulder just before the accident. When she attempted to get back on the road, she over-corrected and crossed the center line, striking Calhoun's vehicle.

What is your stance on a proposed 1 percent sales tax to fund local school building projects?

I'm in favor of anything that will help improve school finances
I will support it if it helps to lower my property taxes
I oppose it because I don't believe it will impact property taxes and I will just pay twice
I'm against any additional taxes
I have not heard enough yet to form an opinion
