Rios leads White Sox past Twins
CHICAGO (MCT) — The strong breeze that sailed Wednesday out of U.S. Cellular Field was more than just the power generated from Alex Rios’ two home runs.
After six consecutive stressful games that saw the White Sox lose and then regain their lead in the American League Central, the Sox collectively exhaled a sigh of relief after a cozy 6-2 victory over the Twins that is sure to make Thursday’s day off more relaxing.
Jake Peavy’s six innings prevented manager Robin Ventura from reaching early and going deep into a well-tapped bullpen. And Rios’ grand slam in the first allowed Peavy to pitch with the run support he has lacked throughout most of this season.
