AREA ROUNDUP: Morris girls tennis team makes history

ROCHELLE — Morris edged host Rochelle 3-2 Thursday in Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference varsity girls tennis. It was its first-ever NIB12 East win.

The Redskins swept in singes play, with Savannah Carter winning 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 and Emma Dingbaum 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2. Morris' top doubles team of Monica Davy and Leah Lines won 6-0, 6-0.

"Another nail biter for us," Morris coach Luke Windy said. "Again Emma pulled out the final match for us to get the team win. She really struggled in that first set but played great after that. Savannah played a great also. She was in control of her ground strokes all match."
