A 'grand' day
Gardner Grade School opens door to kids' grandparents, other special guests
GARDNER, Ill — In just its second year, Gardner Grade School's Grandparents Day has already become a popular tradition for students, grandparents and other special guests.
"I've been before with the other kids. It's really nice. I think the kids like it," said grandpa Guy Huston, grandfather of kindergartner Kendall Huston, as he pushed her on the swing during recess Friday.
Throughout the day, about 500 people attended the event, which included the students having lunch with their grandparents or special guests, enjoying recess together, having a photo taken and then everyone enjoying a magic and comedy show by Pro Kids Show with Tim Hannig of Coal City.
