In their memory

Mazon woman revamps Emington park in honor of her son and his family

A family of five from Emington, Ill., will be honored this Saturday, Sept. 15, during the dedication of a park that was revamped in their memory.

Dan Warren, 29, of Emington, Ill., previously from Morris, was killed Friday, Dec. 16, along with his 9-month-old daughter, Maggie. Both were shot by Warren’s girlfriend and Maggie’s mother, Sara McMeen, 30, of Emington. McMeen also took the lives of her two other children, 8-year-old Skyler Lemke and 7-year-old Ian Lemke, and then turned the gun on herself.

Following the deaths, Dan's mother, Wendy Warren of Mazon, was at her son's home.
