Morris too much for Dukes

DIXON — Things looked like they were going to go the Dixon Dukes' way early on during Friday's NIB-12 crossover game against the Morris Redskins.

On third-and-10 from his own 28-yard line in the opening possession, Dixon quarterback JD Gieson connected with Justin White for a 41-yard gain down to the Morris 31. The pass was batted by a Morris defender, and White plucked it out of air for a big gain and the first down.

But things quickly turned. Two plays later, Morris' Anthonee Monson recovered an incomplete lateral to stop the drive, then Redskins running back Jeff Perry took the handoff for a 61-yard touchdown on the very next play.
