Reid ratcheting it up
Like many recent high-school graduates, Mike Reid, a member of the Class of 2012 at Minooka Community High School, is at a crossroads in choosing his future career.
The decision Reid faces is not between college majors or trades. Reid knows he wants to become a professional fighter, and that the opportunity exists for him to do so. The question is whether to do so in Muay Thai or in boxing.
Boxing would seem to be the easiest choice. Reid says famed boxing manager Cameron Dunkin wanted him to sign on the spot after watching him spar at a national event. Reid passed, saying he needed more time to consider his options, but the opportunity to sign with Dunkin and box on HBO remains, according to Reid, a phone call away.
