Hallowed Halls
Like many schools, Minooka Community High School has signs hanging on the walls of its gymnasium to display, by sport, titles its teams have won through the years.
If all goes as planned, select Minooka athletes, teams, and coaches will be remembered in another visual manner by as soon as late next spring.
A steering committee, headed by President Bert Kooi, is in the process of forming a Minooka Athletic Hall of Fame. The idea originated from current Indians head football coach Paul Forsythe, who shared it with Kooi, the former football coach. Kooi took it to longtime Minooka teacher and coach Wayne Greenbeck, and it has since been presented to administrators and is pending District 111 Board approval, but has otherwise been endorsed by all.
