Saratoga, MVK and Minooka headed to state

For the first time in history, three local baseball teams are advancing to the IESA State Tournament. Included in that group is the Saratoga Hawks and what is believed to be its first-ever trip to state in the sport. Also making it from the area are Minooka and Mazon-Verona-Kinsman.

"Our pitching is one of the main reasons we're going," Morris coach Matt Blaine said. "Two eighth graders — Lucas Bledsoe and Dylan Callahan — have done an excellent job for us."

Morris (12-3) plays in the 2A tournament on Friday against Newton Jasper County at Noon at Eastside Centre in East Peoria.
