CHURCH BULLETINS: Interim pastor leads Gardner Lutherans

GARDNER — United Lutheran Church in Gard-ner would like to welcome Pastor Dorothy Wilcox as their new interim pastor.

On Sunday, Sept. 9, Sunday School started with a hayrack ride. Classes will meet each Sunday at 9 a.m., followed by Worship Service at 10 a.m.

They would like to thank everyone who attended their “Saturday Summer Breakfast” held in June, July and August.

The Fellowship Hall is also available to rent by calling the church at (815) 237-2227 or Joe Spiezio at (815) 237-8249.

Special services planned  until the November elections

The community is invited to Standing In The Word Ministries in Morris at 6:30 p.m. every Sunday night until the elections.

Based on a shared belief that “We need God in America again,” those gathered will stand in the gap for our nation and churches by “Calling America back to God and the church to a place of power.”

Standing In The Word Ministries is over the Illinois River, 2 ¼ miles south of Morris on Illinois 47.

Gardner church hosts chili supper on Oct. 3

GARDNER – The United Lutheran Church in Gardner will host its 12th annual Chili Supper on Wednesday, Oct. 3.

It will be from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at the corner of Jefferson and Pine streets in Gardner.

The price for all-you-can-eat chili with a hot dog, coffee, lemonade, and dessert is $7 for adults, $4 for children 5-12, and free for kids under 5

The famous Bake Sale will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Have breakfast before going to Octoberfest

COAL CITY — Sunshine Circle of Coal City United Methodist Church invites the community to Octoberfest Breakfast in the church’s fellowship hall on Saturday, Oct. 6.

Served from 8 to 10 a.m., the meal will include biscuits and gravy, assorted pastries, fresh fruit, juice, coffee, tea and milk.

The cost is $5 for adults and children ages 13 and older; $3 for children ages 6 t0 12; and free for children ages 5 and under.

The church is located at 6805 E. McArdle Road in Coal City.

Everyone is welcome to stop by for breakfast on Oct. 6 on your way to the village’s Octoberfest festivities.
