Bicyclist taken to hospital after being struck by vehicle

A Marseilles bicyclist was taken to an area hospital Friday after being struck by a motorist, according to a La Salle County Sheriff’s Office release.

Deputies investigated the crash just before 9:55 a.m. in the area of 2148 N. 2753rd Road in Rutland Township.

Stephen T. Trumbo, 46, of Marseilles, was reportedly bicycling west  when he swerved toward the center of the road.

Eden T. Thomas, 22, of Seneca, traveling behind Trumbo and was unable to avoid him when he crossed in front of her.

Trumbo was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Ottawa by Marseilles Ambulance. No citations were issued.
