(MCT) — The Cubs fired third base coach Pat Listach after Wednesday's finale at Wrigley Field.
Listach was hired to coach third under former manager Mike Quade in 2011, and remained at the position under manager Dale Sveum in the final year of his two-year deal.
"I believe in the direction the organization is going," Listach said. "I'm not going to be a part of it, but I'll be fine."
Sveum said it was no reflection on the job Listach did, but he had some candidates in mind.
"He did a great job," Sveum said. "I'd recommend him for any job."
The only other coach whose status is uncertain is hitting coach James Rowson, though if the Cubs do bring in another hitting coach, they likely wouild give Rowson another job in the organization. Rowson took over for Rudy Jaramillo during the season, but the Cubs finished next-to-last in hitting (.240) and were ranked 12th in home runs entering Wednesday.
