OTTAWA — After hearing from overwhelming numbers of voters that they have not heard enough from their two Illinois State Senate candidates in the 38th District, Chris Benson has personally challenged Sue Rezin to a series of five debates by Election Day.
The invitation to debate was sent to Rezin on Sept. 13 and by last week, according to a press release from the Benson campaign, Rezin had not sent a response.
Benson, the release said, would like to know why Rezin feels she does not have to debate and why the voters across the district do not have the right hear her positions.
Christine Benson, who is challenging the incumbent Sen. Sue Rezin of Morris, is retiring as superintendent at Streator Elementary School. Her career has spanned 35 years in education, 17 years as a teacher and the last 18 years as an administrator.

She continues leadership positions in the Illinois Association of School Administrators, the American Association of School Administrators and the Illinois Association of School Business Officials.
She received her bachelor’s, master’s, and certificate of advanced study from Illinois State University and obtained her doctorate degree from Northern Illinois University.
