JOLIET, Ill. — Hollywood Casino Joliet has teamed up with the American Cancer Society’s “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Joliet” to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research.
Hollywood Casino Joliet is providing a donation station. Guest donations will be accepted throughout the month of October via a collection box placed in the casino’s pavilion, 777 Hollywood Boulevard, Joliet.
The money collected will be donated to American Cancer Society’s “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.” The American Cancer Society is the most effective breast cancer-fighting organization in the world, and is doing the most to help people with breast cancer today and works tirelessly to find cures to end the disease tomorrow.
ACS has spent more on breast cancer research than on any other cancer, and has played an important part in many major breast cancer research breakthroughs in the past century, including demonstrating that mammography is an effective screening test for breast cancer, the development of tamoxifen and herceptin, and knowledge that genetics, poor diet, lack of exercise and moderate drinking increase a person’s cancer risk.
On Sunday, Oct. 28, Hollywood Casino Joliet is hosting play for a cause premier event where they will donate a penny to American Cancer Society for every point earned that gaming day.
