ROUNDUP: Kief qualifies for state in girls golf

URBANA — Morris senior Olivia Kief was one of 10 advancing individuals out of Tuesday's Class A St. Thomas More Girls Golf Sectional at Stone Creek in Urbana.

Kief carded a 90, which tied for the third-lowest score among advancing individuals. The highest score to advance individually was a 93.

Kief will compete in the state final tournament, planned for this Friday and Saturday at Red Tail Run Golf Course in Decatur.


BOYS GOLF
Pekin Sectional

PEKIN — Minooka junior Jason Chobar qualified for the Class 3A Boys Golf State Final Tournament Monday as an individual based on his score at the Pekin Sectional, held at Lick Creek Golf Course.

Chobar carded a 78 and was one of 10 individuals, along with three teams, to qualify at the sectional. The highest score with which individuals advanced was a 79.

The state final tournament is Friday and Saturday at The Den at Fox Creek Golf Course in Bloomington.

Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference Tournament

Morris finished in fourth place in the East division and sixth overall over the weekend.

Two Morris doubles teams took second place, including the No. 1 doubles tandem of Monica Davy and Leah Lines.

Morris winners Tuesday were Britt Crawford in the 200 IM (2:49.98) and the 100 back (2:49.98), Kelly Kolotka in the 50 free (31.77), Randi Olson in diving (97.55) and Emily Walker in the 100 breast (31.77). Molly Fruland, Alyssa Solis, Walker and Morgan Abraham combined on a second-place showing in the 400 free (1:23.83).

Plainfield won the junior varsity meet 110-44. First-place Redskins were Angel Dinelli in the 100 free (31.77) and Miranda Starks in the 100 fly (2:49.98).

SENECA — Nine kills each from Nicole Pihl, who added 6 points and 2 aces, and Aspen Stuedemann, paced the Lady Irish (21-5-1, 6-2) in the Interstate Eight Conference match Tuesday. They got 4 kills, 9 points and 4 assists from Kayla Haines, 4 blocks from Lexi Wilkinson, 8 points and 4 digs from Danielle Hauch and 5 digs and 13 assists from Madison Wyss.
