SANDWICH, Ill. — Mrs. Karen Sue Manning, 51, of Sandwich, Ill., died Monday evening, Oct. 8, 2012, at Edward Hospital.

Visitation will be from noon to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, with funeral services following at 3 p.m., with Pastor Jodeen Immer officiating at the Gabel-Dunn Funeral Home, 102 S. Johnson St., Newark. Interment will be at the Plattville Cemetery.

Karen was born Nov. 12, 1960 in Rockford, Ill., to Monty and Nina (Andrews) Wagner. She married Dale Manning on Nov. 17, 1979, at Cross Lutheran Church. She had been a teacher's aide for the Sandwich Grade School and was a caring mother, grandmother and babysitter who loved to garden and cook.

Surviving are her husband, Dale Manning; her daughter, Jennifer (Erick) Cole of Leland, Ill.; her son, Jason (Dana) Manning of Sandwich, Ill.; three grandchildren, McKenna Cole, Addison Cole, and Kenadi Manning; her parents, Monty and Nina Wagner of Milledville, Ill.; and two sisters, Kathy Kahle of Ottawa, Ill., and Lisa (Jason) Verachtert of Yorkville, Ill.

Pallbearers will be David Wallin, Troy Gilliam, John Manning, Connor Manning, Nicholas Decker and Brent Anderson.

Memorials may be directed to the donors choice.

CHANNAHON — Linda I. Manns, 71, of Channahon, passed away Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at her late residence with her family by her side after a courageous six-year battle with melanoma.

Born in Wedron, Linda spent most of her life in the Channahon area. She graduated from Minooka High School in 1959 and retired in 2000 from Mobil Oil Joliet Refinery after 23 years of service.

She was a former member of Midwest Crossroads Chorus of Sweet Adelines and a member of Pieces of the Heart Quilt Guild.

She was a wonderful lady who lived life to the fullest by enjoying quilting, gardening, music and many other hobbies, but most of all she loved her time with her family.

Survivors include her husband, Gilbert Manns, together for 38 years; three children, Greg (Dorothy) Severson of Joliet, Ill., Steve (Janet) Severson of Manhattan, Ill., and Teresa (Steve) Bateman of Minooka; grandchildren, Kim (Kelly) Van Hyning, Kyle (Clyde) Severson, Tyler Severson, Alex Severson, Mitchell Severson, Brandon Bateman, Chrissy Bateman, Stephanie Bateman; and one great-granddaughter, Ashlyn Van Hyning; sister, Susie (Mike) Steinmetz; brother, Steve (Janet) Hauger; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by her father, Luther Edward Hauger, and her mother, Edith Maurine Jansen (Peterson).

Funeral services for Linda I. Manns will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at the funeral home chapel.

Interment will be Woodlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home.
