Thomas F. Shelton

SENECA, Ill. — Mr. Thomas F. Shelton, 81, of Seneca, Ill., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet. 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home, 1009 E. Bluff St., Marseilles, Ill., with the Rev. Carolyn Lukasick of the United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Ill., with military honors.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home in Marseilles.

Mr. Shelton was born March 30, 1931, in Marseilles, to George and Vivian (Kelly) Shelton. In 1953, he married Doris Thompson of Marseilles, who survives.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Seneca.

An Airman 2nd Class in the Air Force, he served in Europe during the Korean Era. He was employed by E. I. DuPont in Seneca, and then Quantum Chemical in Morris, Ill., until his retirement in 1990.

Surviving are his wife, Doris, of Seneca; one daughter, Ruth Ann (Robert) Alford of Houston, Texas; one son, Rodney (Regina) Shelton of Seneca; five grandchildren, Rory Hines and Kyle, Ross, Dustin and Aaron Shelton; two great-grandchildren, Maci and Alexa, with a third expected in March; one sister, Mary Shelton of Marseilles; and two brothers, Philip Shelton of Florida and Jerry Shelton of Streator.

He was preceded in death by one son, Russell; one daughter, Elaine Shelton; two grandchildren, Janelle and Joshua Shelton; one brother, Lyle Shelton; and two sisters, Elizabeth Hopton and Doris Dumke.

Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church of Seneca.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.
