Chicago man charged with crashing into police car
(MCT) — Police say a 32-year-old Englewood neighborhood man fled police and crashed into a marked squad car after they tried to pull him over for a traffic violation.
Shawn James, of the 7100 S. Lowe in Chicago, was charged with aggravated fleeing, possession of less than 2.5 grams of cannabis, driving under the influence, driving with a revoked driver’s license and no insurance, damage to public property and driving without headlights, according to Chicago police.
James took off from police and ran into an evidence technician’s car after running a stop sign in the 7600 block of South Union Avenue about 9:25 p.m. Wednesday, police said. The technician was not involved with the initial incident.
An officer was treated and released from an area hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. Two others were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center.
