Grundy County deputies arrested a Chicago man Friday, Oct. 5 after finding controlled substances in his vehicle.

According to Grundy County Sheriff’s Department records, at about 1:10 a.m., a deputy conducted a traffic stop on N. Interstate 55 near mile marker 233 in Braceville for a vehicle seen crossing the fog line. In interacting with the driver, identified as William J. Bonner, 26, the deputy requested and was granted permission to search the vehicle and allegedly found plastic bags filled with an unnamed white crystal-like powder in the glove box and truck.

According to the report, one of 21 plastic bags found tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.

Bonner was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver and a Will County warrant for failure to appear for driving with a suspended license. He was held pending a bond hearing for the drug charges, while a $700 bond was set for the warrant.
