MARSEILLES — Few details have been released about the 5-year-old boy who was found dead Sunday at a residence in Marseilles.

According to a press release from Marseilles Police Department, the boy was discovered following a call at 11:33 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, to assist Marseilles Area Ambulance at a residence.

La Salle County Coroner Jody Bernard said the boy was pronounced dead at the home at 12:05 p.m.

She said there was no evidence of trauma, and that her office is investigating the death in addition to the Marseilles Police Department.

"At this time, we are awaiting the results of an autopsy that was performed earlier today and checking medical records," Bernard said.

She said results of the investigation and autopsy could take a few weeks.

Marseilles Chief James Hovious said the department is not currently releasing any additional information beyond the press release, including information about the location of the incident.
