Police chase ends in Minooka

Man arrested after trying to flee in stolen vehicle

OTTAWA, Ill. — A man was apprehended Thursday morning following a police chase that started in Ottawa and ended when the suspect was caught while trying to evade officers on foot in a cornfield near Minooka.

Ottawa police arrested Daniel James Bakalik, of Mokena, Ill., for unlawful possession of a stolen motor vehicle, a Class 2 felony, and numerous traffic offenses.

At about 4:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, Ottawa police responded to the report of a motor vehicle taken from the 1500 block of Mulberry Street, Ottawa.
