A vote for Mercadante is vote for openness, fiscal reform
To the Editor:
As a small business owner (my wife and I own Morris Bakery), former Morris alderman and longtime resident of Grundy County, I am paying close attention to the upcoming elections for Grundy County Board.
I think it’s vital that we put more small business owners on the board, who know what it takes to make a budget and survive in tough economic times.
It’s time to stop electing politicians who are looking for ways to spend our money, and elect people whose priority will be to protect our hard-earned tax dollars.
That’s why I’m supporting Curt Mercadante for Grundy County Board in District One.
I’ve gotten to know Curt over the past several years, and he not only shares my fiscally conservative beliefs — he’s a good person who cares about his family and our community.
I’m so impressed that he even worked to support the brave men and women of our military by serving on the board of Operation Homefront - Illinois.
He’s not looking to serve on the board to make money, control local government contracts, pick up another pension, or gain political clout.
He’s running for County Board because he cares about our Grundy County and, like most of us, he wants a government that lives within its means.
I also love the fact that he is pushing to put the county checkbook register online so we can see how every one of our tax dollars is being spent.
There are just a few weeks left to Election Day. Let’s not settle for more of the same. Please join me in voting for Curt Mercadante for Grundy County Board.
