The heart of Hospice is a concept of care that provides physical, social, emotional and spiritual support for terminally ill patients and their families. Hospice neither hastens nor postpones death; it affirms life and regards dying as a normal process.
The Grundy Community Volunteer Hospice started in 1985 and is one of three hospices left in the state of Illinois that is still run and operated solely by the passion and hard work of specially trained volunteers.
Grundy Community Volunteer Hospice is a non-profit organization that is funded solely by a United Way grant and donations.
The goal of Grundy Community Volunteer Hospice is to give its patients and families the best possible experience as they progress through their difficult time and to teach and assist the family and/or friends to care for the patient at home.
Grundy Community Volunteer Hospice is dedicated to providing services with a profound sense of love, compassion and understanding in which to experience the end of one’s life.
GCVH recognizes that an individual with a terminal illness is a vital member of a family unit and cannot be cared for in isolation, apart from family and friends.
While the focus of concern is on the patient, supportive care is given to all members of the family who are an integral part of the hospice team.
Grundy Community Volunteer Hospice is located at 518 W. Illinois Ave., Morris. For more information, call (815) 942-8525, visit the website www.grundyhospice.org or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
