ELWOOD, Ill. — Mrs. Marilyn J. O'Brien, 79, of Elwood, Ill., passed away Friday evening, Oct. 26, 2012, at Salem Village in Joliet, Ill.
Born Aug. 28, 1933, in Joliet, Marilyn was a daughter of the late Harold and Margaret Petersen-Friddle. She was raised in Elwood and graduated from Joliet Township High School.
Marilyn was married to Bernard H. O’Brien, and he preceded her in death in 1986.
Marilyn worked as a secretary at Olin Chemical and retired in 1985, after 25 years of service. She attended Elwood Community Church and will be remembered for her love of country and western music and horses.
Survivors include her children, Paula O’Brien and Craig (Laura) O’Brien, and one grandson Tony Canfarelli, all of Elwood; and one sister-in-law, Evelyn (the late Robert) O’Brien of Rockdale.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bernard; and one brother, Donald.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, in Maple Hill Cemetery in Elwood, with Pastor Carrie Kapral from Elwood Community Church officiating.
