Varsity Warriors move on in playoffs

The Morris Warriors varsity youth football team had to dig deep to fend off an upset-minded Bourbonnais Bears team, winning 16-6 in second-round River Valley Youth Football playoff action Sunday.

The Warriors (9-1) were up 16-0 at halftime behind solid running from Michael Feeney, Michael Gerischer and Keagan Sobol.  n the second half the Warriors could not score and were able to hold the Bears to a single touchdown to preserve the win. Defensively the Warriors were led by Merrick Hairapetian, Kenny Graman, Alex Lawyer and Alonzo Enriques.

With the win, the Warriors will face off against the Lemont Hornets next Sunday at Providence Field in Joliet.
