Frank W. Gordon

Mr. Frank W. Gordon, 85, of Morris, passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon, Nov. 1, 2012 at Morris Hospital with his loving family by his side.

Born Oct. 14, 1927, in Sycamore, Tenn., Frank was the son of George and Tennie (Winters) Gordon.
Frank married Ollie Dell Brown on Sept. 17, 1949, in Mississippi. Together, with his wife, they moved to Morris in 1950 to make their home.

Frank was employed with the Stephen Lumber Comp-any on Illinois Avenue. He then entered the employment of Stockdale Fertilizer in Erienna Township, and he retired from the Federal Paper Board Company after 11 years of employment in 1979. He farmed for Ron Johnson for a couple of years in Saratoga Township.

He was well known for his big garden at the Saratoga Towers. He enjoyed fishing and playing his harmonica. He volunteered his time and efforts delivering meals on wheels and was inducted into the Grundy County Senior Hall of Fame on June 21, 2007.

Frank loved visiting with his many friends and family. He treasured the time he was able to spend with his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Frank’s first wife, Ollie Dell, passed away Jan. 3, 2000, and he found a new mate in Eunice B. Sjostrom, whom he married on May 9, 2003 in Morris.

He was a member of the First Christian Church.

Survivors include his loving wife, Eunice; his six daughters, Charlotte and her husband Paul Kenney of Minooka, Sherry and her husband Rich Stutzki of Woodbury, Minn.., Pat and her husband Rick Mansfield of Coal City, Shelia and her husband Darin Condon of Morris, Karen and her husband Richard Poppleton of Morris,and Angela and her husband Jerry Stoodley of Salisbury, N.C.; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Ollie Dell; one granddaughter; five sisters; and seven brothers.

Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at U.C. Davis & Sons Funeral Home Ltd., 301 W. Washington St., Morris.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at the First Christian  Church, 455 W. Southmor Road, Morris. Rev. Todd Thomson will officiate.
