Cops: Man arrested with loaded handgun in luggage at O'Hare
(MCT) — A Kansas man was arrested after a loaded handgun was found in his carry-on luggage at O’Hare International Airport over the weekend, authorities said.
Dean Bieker, 54, was charged with trying to bring a loaded gun onto a plane, a felony, according to Cook County Jail records.
Bieker, of 158th Street in Olathe, Kansas, was arrested about 1:30 p.m. Saturday as he went through a security checkpoint at Terminal 3, according to a police report.
Transportation Security Administration screeners spotted the image of a handgun in Bieker’s carry-on bag in an X-ray machine, according to the report. Officers brought the bag into a screening room, where they unloaded and secured the gun.
Bieker appeared in Cook County Bond Court Sunday and was released on bond, according to court and jail records.
