The Illinois Department of Employment Security will present a workshop focused on their services from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Joliet Junior College Grundy Workforce Services, 1715 N. Division St., Morris.
This workshop is designed for human resource staff, business owners, managers and anyone responsible for employment services and unemployment insurance processing.
Topics will include:
• An Overview of IDES Business Solutions — An overview of IDES business solutions, including resources for employers seeking skilled workers to fill job vacancies. Information to be presented will include registration and use of the Illinois JobLink System, veterans programs, use of local offices for recruitment purposes, Re-Entry Employment Services Program, Fidelity Bonding, Migrant Seasonal Farm Worker Program, Work Opportunity Tax Credit and provision of Labor Market Information.
• Employer Protests — Information on the employers’ right to consent unemployment insurance claims and chargeability with emphasis on due dates of protests and what information should be included with written protests. Appeal rights will also be presented.
• Mock Adjudication Interviews — A demonstration of the interviews and processes conducted by local office staff with claimants and employers during the initial fact-finding investigation. Interviews on voluntary leaving, misconduct and refusal of work will be conducted.
In addition, a claims adjudicator will be available to answer questions regarding unemployment insurance protest.
The workshop is at no cost and is sponsored by the Grundy County Chamber of Commerce, Grundy Livingston Kankakee Workforce Board and Joliet Junior College Grundy Workforce Services.
